This solid brass casting measures about 7 inches long and has two stubs to which you may solder sets of wings. The wings and hanger are not included, and that's where the fun comes in, because each set of wings you make will be unlike any other. The metal is malleable enough so that you can twist the tails to various angles to customize each one even further. If you have your local printer run off some adoption papers, and do a little advertising, you may become wealthy overnight.
Note that a strong flux and hot iron are required for soldering to brass. Note also that most of these fellows (or gals?) have a "good side", in that one eye is more well-defined than the other. Attaching a small jewel in each eye socket (or non-socket) would make this attribute irrelevant. $3.95, 6 for $21.00, 24 for $78.00 |
This brass casting is made to accommodate a stained glass panel, which you can make to your own specifications, or if you wish, you may follow our design. The panel is easily installed in a slot which has been provided in the casting. This beautiful stained glass project is a fine gift idea. When completed with care, a stained glass peacock can become a family heirloom.
The model for this brass casting is Charlie, an unemployed local peacock. Charlie, a small peacock, was named after his mother's cousin Charles, who is a dragon by trade. Charlie measures 5" to the top of his crest. This measurement was while he were in their stocking feet.
When you order Charlie, we will include design suggestions free of charge. $4.45, 6 for $22.50, 24 for $81.12 |
This is a 7" long solid brass version of one of a genus of North American synapsid reptiles which we all know lived during the Lower Permian period. As you will undoubtedly recall, these were terrestrial carnivores of moderate size distinguished by a curious crest or dorsal sail supported by greatly elongated neural spines of the vertebrae.
We can create our own versions of this charming but extinct beast by designing our own stained glass crests for him (or her). We will include a pattern for the one shown in the illustration (which does not have the elongated neural spines) free of charge with your purchase. Our version has been darkened with a chemical patina. $11.20, 6 for $57.00, 24 for $205.20 |
This solid brass member of the Acrididae family can be fitted out with all shapes and colors of wings, but we have outfitted ours with a pair of wings we borrowed from an itinerant dragonfly (our #5296). You may want to design your own, however, but if you want to use ours, we have included a free pattern in the deal. Our wing designs are drawn to the shape of our #5295 dragonfly wing filigree, which comes in sets of 4. They consist of 2 each of 2 different sizes, so if you buy 1 set you have enough filigrees to use for 2 grasshoppers which will have different sized wings. The grasshopper itself is a fairly challenging project because it comes to you in 4 parts. The legs have to be soldered to the body, which is not as easy as it sounds. $4.95, 6 for $25.50, 24 for $90.96 |
 Made of sheet brass.
A set consists of 4 wings.
Can be used as an overlay for the glass wings of the #5292 brass grasshopper. For lampshade pattern #6325 order 7 sets. $4.99 |
This solid brass vessel awaits your inventiveness in designing and installing a sail of stained glass, slightly skewed to leeward, so as not to interfere with the trough at the stern which acts as the rest for your favorite cigar, cigarette or cheroot. With each dinghy you order, we will include a 12" brass tube which fits into the hole for the mast amidships, and which you can cut into 4" pieces to make three changes of sails: One for weekdays, one for Sundays, and one for ceremonial occasions. The open body of this 5-1/2" boat can be used for other things too. A jelly bean dish, a cactus planter, a paper clip tray.....one could go on and on... $5.95, 6 for $30.78, 24 for $110.64 |
This charming insect, (known as as a Mosquito Hawk in Lousiana) is 7" long, and is ready for you to solder any variety of dragonfly wings onto it, with or without filigrees, and to attach loops for hanging at suitable locations around the house. We usually darken ours with patina to add an aura of decadence. Tiffany Studios created dragonfly hangings such as this to suspend under some of their larger dragonfly lampshades as a decorative item. We include one pattern for the wings as shown, free of charge, with your order. The filigrees may be purchased separately. $4.45, 6 for $22.50, 24 for $81.12 |
This beautiful 4-1/2" heavyweight brass casting is polished to a highly reflective finish. With each #5297 schooner you buy we will include one 12" piece of brass tubing free, which, depending upon the length of the mast you contemplate should do you for 2 or 3 changes of sail. You might try doing a schooner, a sloop and a yacht for openers. (If you prefer, you needn't solder the mast into the hull so it can remain removable for sail chages to suit the mood of the moment. $6.95, 6 for $35.70, 24 for $129.60 |
These brass items make it possible for you to create countless varieties of stained glass flowers for use as decorations in planters, vases, puddings and the like. The small channel at the top of the 7-1/2" stem is made to accept the edge of a foiled piece of glass, which can be readily soldered into it. All sorts of other designs are possible. You can foil a piece of glass and a night light filigree together, and install it to the top of the stem for a special decorative effect. The brass leaves have pliable wire stems which can be shortened if you wish. They are easily soldered to the brass stem at any spot. These leaves are hand made from sheet brass, which is cut and fashioned into shape by nimble fingered ladies who live in Bangaldore, India. After cutting and shaping, the leaves are sent to Madras, where they are shipped by ocean to Galveston, Texas and transhipped again to that certain town in West Texas where those ladies live who are so good at polishing things. There they are polished to a gleaming finish and sent on to us. It is surprising that we can keep the cost so low on an item which involves so much hard work. And foot work, too. |
