Decals

Our traveling man, Bernie, getting more restless than usual, went on a trip recently with a vengeance. When he came back, he had landed a treasure trove of more than 30,000 decals which had been part of the inventory of a now defunct manufactory of decorative glass items for the gift and souvenir shop trade. This well known company had gangs of kilns in which they applied these decals to beveled glass pieces. They then wrapped the bevels in lead came and soldered chains to the top edges so they could be hung in windows as decorative pieces. You may have seen the display racks from time to time in the vacation spots you have visited. Many of the items are floral, or are birds, or seascapes.

The sampling shown is a mere hint of the variety of items in this assortment. These decals are grouped in sheets of 2, 4, 6 or 8. Sometimes they are all of the same scene. Sometimes they are in sets, like 6 dogs, or 4 seasons, or similar arrangements which can be utilized to make sets of things. We have cut them apart so that the assortment is a real assortment.

PACKAGED ASSORTMENTS

There is such a large variety of subject matter that it would be an overwhelming task to catalog it all. We have put it up into bags of 10 each, starting with the first box, and continuing until it was all done. Some of the bags are identical as to assortments, but not many, because the people putting it into bags are prone to the effects of boredom, so they quickly decided to rummage around for interesting items, which they stuffed into the bags of the day's selection.

The decals are applied wet, in the same way a common decal is applied. With each order, we will include a complete set of instruction, with the kiln firing temperatures and timing.

WHAT A BARGAIN! The cost of ceramic decals depends upon the number of colors involved in its preparation. The paints used are specially prepared china paints, which are the same as those which are used in the decoration of fine china and porcelain. A 4" x 4" decal with many colors normally costs as much as $4.00. We have surveyed and sampled the collection, and have come up with an average cost of $2.85, based on a range of sizes which mainly are from 3" x 3" and up.. We then cut that cost in half. And then knocked some more off for good measure. When you order 100 of these decals, you will be paying only $ .57 each, which is a discount of more than 75%.
