Glass Cutters and Accessories

The manufacturers recommend certain glass cutters for certain hardnesses of glass. The wheels are honed to different degrees of sharpness for this purpose. Most of the cutters are also available both with a straight ended handle, and with a handle with a steel ball on the end for tapping along the underside of the glass to encourage the cut to run. In addition to those differences, there is also a difference in the durability of the cutter, depending upon the material used in the manufacture of the wheel. The standard steel wheel cutter is a fine tool, but a carbide steel wheel cutter is an even finer tool, and will last up to five times longer in normal use. Here is how our cutters fit into this scheme.

The Fletcher-Terry ScoreMaster II System features a generous reservoir and unique flow valve within the glass cutter which dispenses the precise amount of fluid for a perfect, smooth score. Tests show that you can score more than 1000 feet of glass on one fill-up. (If you get bored some evening, you might try to check this statistic. It sounds exciting.) The patented valve system resists leaking and provides a fine bead of oil only when you apply pressure for smooth cutting. Air is vented automatically. For optimum cutting performance a mixture of 50% light machine oil and 50% kersosene is recommended. For added flexibility, the ScoreMaster System is engineered to provide the option of fixed or swivel head cutting. The fluid-dispensing ScoreMaster glass cutters have a contour designed handle with a universal grip that fits the hand comfortably and lets you cut with a pull or push stroke. They have a no-roll feature and tapping ball. Each ScoreMaster comes with a Tungsten Carbide 134 degree small wheel for general purpose oil cutting. For cutting various thicknesses or textures of glass the system accommodates the three interchangeable heads shown below. Scoremaster provides the ultimate in smooth scoring without flaking.

The Inland ScoreOne Glass Cutter will save a great deal of glass and make it easier and faster to follow the pattern line as you score your glass before "breaking it out". This hand operated tool relieves the strain on fingers and hand and allows you to sit at a table while working. You look directly at the carbide cutter wheel as you score the glass. If you want to stop during the scoring operation you may do so, then continue where you left off. The cutting pressure is always uniform. The design features of SCORE 1 enable you to make very even and delicate score lines so precise that it is possible to split a pattern line down the middle. Cutting long curved strips as well as complicated small "jig-saw" like pieces or tiny "hard-to-hold" shapes is easy to do.
