Cementing

SEND FOR OUR FREE LEAFLET (below) giving the formula and methods that commercial stained glass studios have used for centuries to cement and waterprooof leaded glass windows which are to be used in windows exposed to the weather. Enclose a self addressed envelope. We will provide the postage.

Cementing a stained glass object which will not be used as a window may be done simply by buying some black glazing compound, and knifing it into voids between the edges of the lead and the glass. A rubber spatula can be used for this operation. The same spatula can be used to remove the excess, and then the project can be sprinkled with sawdust and rubbed with a coarse towel. This process will clean it up and give the glass a sparkle, and give the lead a darker appearance. After the glazing compound has set for a few days, you may clean the project with a commercial glass cleaner.
