Here is the utmost in utility. With very little effort on your part you may now secure your chapeau to your head (what better place?) in such a manner that it will persist in its attitude through any sort of tumult in which you may be tempted to engage. Ride your motorcycle; engage in confrontations with constables, etc.; take part in love-ins (Platonic, of course) or similar exercises with impunity. Your "Best" Hat Fastener will remain faithfully atop your bun, functioning as only a hat fastener can function to keep your hat secure.

These ingenious devices were patented on November 10, 1908. They were sold in pairs, and come packed one dozen to the box. The legend on the box says "Made of Best Brass, Heavily Plated, Guaranteed not to rust or corrode".

"They make no holes in the hat, therefore will not injure hats of the finest material. Fancy hat pins may be left in the hat for ornaments if desired."

With the "Best" Hat Fastener available at such little cost, the folly of venturing forth without it become immediately apparent to even the person little given to such prudent action.

These hat fasteners have been in storage since before World War I, but are in fine condition. They are guaranteed to be functional. Limited quantity.

$ .75 per pair, 12 pairs in a labeled box, $7.50.

Everybody knows Gresham's Law, which is the tendency, when two or more coins are equal in debt-paying power, but unequal in intrinsic value, toward hoarding the more valuable, thus leaving the less valuable in circulation. (That is why we have devoted this space to explaining it.) These brass dog license tags are of much higher intrinsic value than today's dog license tags. They are from the 1940-1948 period, and were issued by Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

Evidently the dogs of Bedford were a sly lot, and put these licenses away, hoping to drive the dog officer to distraction by upsetting the economic balance of his domain. Apparently the dogs later had a falling out because we recently acquired these tags from a pawnshop in Delaware.

They say "Bedford, Pa.", plus a number, and leave room for a suitable romantic message, such as "For a Good Dog", or just plain "Arf". Give one to a person who might wear it on a charm bracelet or on a chain around the neck. Or buy two to make into earrings for your Sunday School Teacher.

Limit 6 per customer. If we don't limit how many you buy, we'll run out very soon.

The purpose of this interesting little object was to keep people's Stick Pins and other pins from becoming unruly in their drawers. One of these fans consists of two pieces of thin cardboard laminated to thin pads of crepe paper which is sandwiched in between. The size is 3/4" x 1-3/4", and each one will acommadte up to 12 pins. They were made prior to 1900, and a few them would add interest to a stick pin or other ornamental pin collection.

These 7/8" x 1/2" glass dolls' eyes were made prior to 1912. They are flat-backed. Mr. Ferguson of Roanoke writes "I used to have a problem with solitary drinking. Now I stick one of your dolls' eyes into one of my olives in place of the pimento, and drop it into my Martini. This way I don't feel so alone."

Principally from defunct breweries in Indiana, these labels are purchased from us chiefly by beautiful people who use them in a patronizing way on their Cutty Sark bottles when anticipating a visit from old schools chums. The last time we saw them used was at a Zen Sunday School Picnic.

Just like Mrs. Grover Cleveland would have bought if her bag were dressmaking instead of riding to hounds. (Or was that Woodrow Wilson's mother?)

No sewing room should be without this original equipment from 1915, but you should also have some on hand for locating things on maps and for vaccinating your dog against Barlow's disease. (Or vaccinating Barlow against your dog's disease, for that matter.)

Sold by the dozen.

Did you ever wonder what those big things were that hung from Aunt Martha's ears? Well, sir, they might have been ear lobes. At least that's what they were on our Aunt Martha.

More than likely, though, they were genuine 1893 Pearled Glass Stone Earrings. Imagine our pleasant surprise recently when we found a perfectly charming box of these pearled glass stones, nestling in amongst some Passing Single Mordents (which disappeared in a trice.)

These English-Muffin shaped stones are white glass, coated with a layer of simulated pearl glass. They are earring stones, and if you only know how ravishing you would look clad in these at your next Sorority Smoker, you would buy at the very least two of them to apply to your earring blank as offered in our section on Jewelry Findings.

They should appeal to all but the very jaded, and bring a smile to the faces of Ear Lovers everywhere.

$3 per matched pair.

A mixture of opaque round cuts measuring 5/16" to 7/16" in diameter in two shades of blue. Each has 19 facets. These were made for use on fancy costume accessories of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. This should not deter you from acquiring some of these, for new uses should suggest themselves almost immediately. Utilizing a clear cement, they can be used to decorate curry combs, perambulators, velocipedes, rocking horses, night lamps, high backed combs, hair brushes and specie bags.

Brigadier H. H. Foible-Foible of Walla Walla, (just recovering from Beri-Beri contracted in Pago-Pago) writes to say "Your offering of Whittemore's Follies came at just the time to ward off the winter's blahs. I was zonked out of my skull, Man."

You too can get a boost like the stoic Brigadier. Just order a fix of Whittemore's Follies. Limited supply.

3/4" Black jet head, 10" long, manufactured between the years 1880 and 1912. If you have had difficulty securing your hat to your bun, look no further. Impale it with one of our determined hatpins. These hatpins have faceted black glass heads, and look equally well with evening wear or "at home" occasions.

We use this long black jet pin quite often to remove glass slivers from the balls of the feet of the girl hippies who infest our tiny establishment from around May 10th to the first killing frost.

Mr. Olaf DeF. Of Kalamazoo, RI writes "I gave my grandmother, Mrs. T. S. of our city, one of your pins for Chinese New Year. She says it's real cool".
